Whichever Way the Wind Blows

Good afternoon, I pray this finds you well and the first half of your week a good one. Here in the panhandle of Oklahoma the wind can change direction in a matter of minutes. And on many an occasion we have laughed at how we see the tumbleweeds blow south one day, just to have them blow back the next day. Here now is a story from Mr. Spurgeon about the blowing wind.

Mr. Spurgeon went down into the country to visit a friend who had built a new barn, and on the barn was a cupola upon which they had put a weather-vane with this text of Scripture on it: "God is Love."
Mr. Spurgeon said to the man— "What do you mean by putting that text of Scripture on the weather-vane? Do you mean that God's love is as changeable as the wind?"

"Oh no," was the reply; "I mean to say that God is Love, whichever way the wind blows."

1 John 4:14-19
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

19 We love because he first loved us.
